Syria's Army had been hesitant in responding to Israeli attacks against Egypt.  Two companies of T-54s and T-34s advanced under the cover of artillery, against Kibbutz Dan in the lush Huleh Valley. The Israeli reservists of Kibbutz Dan were supported by aging but expertly manned Sherman tanks.
